HTC One X+ confirmed - News - Know Your Cell

HTC took to Twitter this morning to officially out its One X+ smartphone ? which takes the manufacturer?s impressive One X and builds on it with some well-chosen hardware and software upgrades.

The Taiwanese firm opted to equip the new device with a beefy, 1.7GHz, Tegra 3 quad-core chip. It has also given the device a massive 2100mAh battery that should deliver a significant boost in staying power over the standard HTC One X, which only packs an 1800mAh cell.

The device also sees a bump-up in software versions too, with Android 4.1 (Jelly Bean) installed ? though users won?t find an unadulterated version of Google?s platform (more?s the pity). Instead they?ll find HTC?s capable, but largely superfluous Sense 4+ UI overlaid, which, aside from adding a few little nuggets of eye-candy, doesn?t really bring anything new or exciting to the party.

Other notable upgrades include Corning?s Gorilla Glass 2 with optical lamination for vastly improved sunlight legibility, and the option to procure the phone with 64GB of on-board storage space. This latter addition, when married with the device?s Beats Audio enhancement, has the potential to be a killer feature, especially among audiophiles.

Camera tech has also been tweaked in the One X+, but not by much, with a 1.6-megapixel secondary camera taking the place of the 1.3-megapixel offering of its predecessor. The device will also be able to call upon the same impressive 8-megapixel primary snapper that made the original One X such a hit.

The specifics reserved for the device?s hardware didn?t extend to pricing and availability, but we've already seen leaked images of the device in T-Mobile's colors, so we're guessing that's a done deal.

HTC were good enough to confirm that the One X+ would hit stores in November, but we?ll keep on digging, as usual, and bring you more when we have it.
